Marie M. Ellenbecker

Marie M. Ellenbecker 86, formerly of the town of Wein, died Weds. March 17, 2004 at Cedar Ridge Elder Services, Mosinee. She was born September 6, 1917 in Marathon County, daughter of Joseph Sr. and Ottilie (Klein) Burger. On October 2, 1937 she married Alex Ellenbecker Jr. at St. John Catholic Church, Wuertzburg. He preceded her in death November 26, 1990. Marie and Alex owned and operated Burger's Bar and the Trianon Ballroom at Highways 29 and 107 for over 40 years. Marie was an active member of St. John Catholic Church and their Altar Society, Wuertzburg. She was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Rietbrock Homemakers Club. As an avid bowler for many years, she participated in several national tournaments. Survivors include her children, Sidney (Karen) Ellenbecker, Stevens Point; Jane (Donald) Fischer, Fenwood; Mark (Linda) Ellenbecker, Athens; 11 grandchildren, Todd, Terry, Tracey, Sandy, Sherri, Stacey, Schauna, Scott, Sam, Jason, Justin; nine great-grandchildren, Kasie, Jared, Alex, Whitney, Julia, Miranda, Preston, Zoee, Logan, brothers and sisters, Kristine (Werner) Schaefer, Abbottsford, Agnes Gianoli, Athens, Sylvia (Daniel) David, Auburndale, Theresa (Jerry) David, Marshfield, Ceceilia (Gordon) Johnson, Edgar, David (Marilyn) Burger, Marshfield. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carmen, a sister, Janice Nowacki, three brothers, Joseph Jr., Leonard and George Burger. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 20, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Wuertzburg. Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Athens funeral home.
