Marie M. Durand

Marie M. Durand, 93, formerly of 413 N. Fifth Avenue, Wausau, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born January 14, 1911 in Antigo, daughter of the late John and Martha (Manthey) Friedl. On June 27, 1936 she married Frank Durand at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1972. Marie was a charter member of the Church of St. Anne and was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Council. Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine (Dr. Thomas) McCarthy, Madison, Virginia (Alpha) Durand-Bibbs, Foster City, Calif.; one son, Charles (Judith) Durand, Auburn Hills, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and one brother John Friedl, Waukesha. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank Durand, two brothers, Edward Friedl and Norman Friedl and two sisters, Loraine Kellogg and Agnes Whitemarsh. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Church of St. Anne.
