Marian Monica Krautkramer

Marian Monica Krautkramer, 88, died at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on April 11, 2011. Marian was born on September 29, 1922, in the Township of Marathon to Michael and Catherine (Kraus) Gau. Marian married Sylvester Krautkramer, Sr. on April 11, 1942 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. Sylvester preceded her in death on August 12, 1996. After their marriage Sylvester and Marian purchased the Claire family farm and operated it until Sylvester's retirement in 1978. Mother worked for Seubert's Village Inn, Marathon area ginseng gardens, and then Marathon Cheese Corporation until her retirement. She became of a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters in 1952, having held the position of vice president and also received the Fraternalist of the Year Award. Mother was a member of the Hillcrest Homemakers Club, St. Mary's Parish Council of Catholic Women, Third Order of Franciscans, and Fr. Solanus Casey Prayer Circle. Mother's mornings began by attending mass and spending time in the adoration chapel. St. Mary's Catholic School recognized mother for her contribution to Catholic education by having thirty of her grandchildren attending the school. Some of mother's pastimes included quilting, playing cards with family and friends, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed trips to the Western United States, Italy and England. Survivors include her seven daughters Marge (Lyle) Pospyhalla of Stratford, Janet (Wayne) Carroll, Luxemburg, WI, Marie (David) Burish, Jackie (Rod) Hamann, both of Wausau, Theresa (Larry) Berres, Georgine (Thomas) Blume, Michele (Rodney) Butalla all of Marathon. Her seven sons, Dennis, Madison, Jerome (Pauline), Paul (Janice), Lloyd (Carrie), Sylvester "Sly", Jr. (Nancy), Andy (Anita), Mark (Barb) all of Marathon, 41 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Michael (Laura) Gau, Wausau, and her sister-in-law Marie Gau. She is further survived by brother and sisters-in-law Arnold Krautkramer, Sr. Mercedes Knauf and Viola (Ivan) Driscoll. She was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester, a granddaughter, Beth Ann Berres, her parents, one sister Viola Meyer, brothers Oscar, Roman, Walter and Edwin Gau. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Marian's grandson, Rev. Jesse Burish and Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 - 8p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon and again on Saturday from 9a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a 7:30p.m. parish rosary on Friday at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. Schaller of Marshfield Clinic, the staff members of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice and Cedar Ridge Elder Care for their outstanding compassion and care. Mother, the time has come for you to dance in heaven with dad. The values that you have taught us will continue for generations to come. Memories we have of you will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic School, Marathon. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, is in charge of arrangements.
