Marian A. Garske

Marian A. Garske 86, Marathon, died Saturday January 13, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born April 28, 1920, in Mosinee, daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Prahl) Rebernick. On October 16, 1943, she married George Garske at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death April 9, 2006. For a brief time, Marian had worked for the Hoffman & Trembath Law Firm and for many years had been employed with the Woodson Foundation until the time of her retirement in 1986. She was proud to be a Charter Member of St. Matthew Parish, Wausau. Among her favorite things to do were, playing cards, bowling, golfing, reading and in more recent years, visiting with friends over breakfast and lunch. She was an excellent cook, carrying down the tradition from her parents who ran the Sanitary Meat Market in Mosinee. Marian dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Susan (Lynn) Nowak, Mequon, Thomas (Virginia) Garske, Walpole, Mass., four grandchildren, Brian (Margaret) Nowak, Rockford, Ill., Bonnie (Eric) Bachenheimer, Chicago, Ill., Jason (Amy) Nowak, New Berlin, Stefanie Garske, Walpole, Mass., six great grandchildren, Lauren, David, Sara, Benjamin, Riley and Maxwell "George", siblings, Woodrow (Beulah) Rebernik, Milwaukee, Irene (Richard) Cason, Lutz, Fla., Joyce Reyniers, Brown Deer, Marjorie Heckert, Milwaukee. Besides her parents and husband, George, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Leo Rebernick. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Noon Wednesday January 17, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
