Margie Heeren, 90, died on March 15, 2024. She was born on September 30, 1933 to Helen and Henry King. Growing up on a farm as one of nine children, Margie lived a simple life…playing in the orchard…walking a long way to and from school…taking welcoming summer plunges in the neighborhood creek in the days before running water…going to the weekly dances at the nearby ballroom… It was at one of these ballroom dances that Margie met the love of her life, Art Heeren. They were married on August 7, 1954. He preceded her in death, dying in her arms on November 27, 1997.
Early on, Margie learned how to work, even being a live-in maid/cook while going to high school. In addition to being a farmer, she held numerous other jobs, working at Marathon Electric, PrangeWay, as a home cleaner, and a seamstress for several laundry services. Probably the job that gave her the greatest fulfillment was when she worked for Home Instead, helping to provide some in-home care for people who soon became friends. Margie always got great satisfaction in helping others in whatever way she could.
The family would like to thank the numerous people who helped Mom as she battled numerous ailments her last years. We especially would like to thank Dr. Logrono of Marshfield Clinic, the staff and residents at Mountain Terrace Assisted Living,, Marshfield Clinic, Aspirus Hospitals, and Aspirus Hospice Care.
Margie is survived by her son Bill (Linda) and their children, Bethany and Melissa, daughter Julie (Pete) Kage and their children Dana (Matt) Jackan and Amanda (Matt) Davis. Her legacy also lives on in two great grandsons, John Davis, and Luke Jackan. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Art, son Denny, siblings Leona, Irene, Tony, Lloyd, Erv, Ivan, Don, and Delores (Dorie/Dee) Heilmeier.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church, 611 Stark Street Wausau, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. being presided by Fr. Tom Lindner. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park will follow the ceremony.
Margie has run her race. May we remember her in the smiles we share and the good we do for others.
Oh Lord, thank you for granting us our time with Margie. O Lord, please grant eternal rest onto Margie, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her.
