Margaret R. Thorn
96, Wausau, died Thursday August 17, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born April 16, 1910, in Phlox, daughter of the late Wolfgong and Rose Schisel. In 1929, she married Glen Thorn in Antigo. He preceded her in death December 11, 1970.
Margaret was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, fishing, canning, baking and made the best fried chicken. Among her involvements, she was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and participated in Stunt Night at St. Michael Parish.
Survivors include five children, Helen (Frank) Walters, Beth (Don) Allman, Carol Gajewski, Bob (Marge) Thorn and Jack (Sandy) Thorn, all of Wausau, 24 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, one sister, Gladys Krause, Antigo and extended family.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jim a son-in-law, Jerome Gajewski, grandson Jerry Allman and seven sisters and two brothers.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Mon. August 21, 2006 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church.
