Margaret F. Penno

Margaret F. Penno 83, Edgar, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday February 15, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Palliative Care, Marshfield. She was born June 14, 1924, in Athens, daughter of the late Arthur and Mathilda (Engebrecht) Mueller. On June 29, 1946, she married Carl Penno at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. He survives. Margaret was a homemaker. She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at her church while living in Blair, Wisconsin and at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. She participated in Story Hour at both the Blair and Edgar libraries. For eight years, Margaret was a volunteer with the World Hunger organization and also served as the Edgar Correspondent for the Wausau Daily Herald. Survivors include her husband, Carl, two sons, Mark (Bonnie) Penno, Iowa City, Iowa and Tim (Linda) Penno, Marshfield, a grandson, Alex Penno, Iowa City, Iowa, a brother, Roland (Donna) Mueller, Winfield, Kan., two sisters, Alfrieda Riley, Annapolis, Md. and Carol Hannah, Park Ridge, Ill.. Besides her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Penno in 1967, two brothers, Martin and Robert Mueller. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 23, 2008 at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. Rev. LaDonna Ekern will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the St. Stephen Christian Children's Fund Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, is in charge of arrangements.
