Margaret "Mugs" Merwin
77, 312 Humboldt Ave., Wausau, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
She was born May 31, 1924 in Merrill, daughter of the late Winfred and Anna (Burgoyne) Nutter. On May 31, 1945, she married Gilbert Merwin in Merrill. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1988.
Margaret worked for the Singer Sewing Center and JC Penny Company, Wausau for 18 years, later, She owned/operated the Mugs Tap until the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Women of Moose Lodge, Wausau. Before her disability, Mugs enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and archery.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Ruth Rothenberger, Bear Creek and Carolyn (Leorin) Smith, Wausau; 1 son, Nathan (Jeanne) Merwin, Pickerel; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Niles (Lorraine) Nutter and Howard (Catherine) Nutter all of Minocqua.
The memorial mass will be celebrated at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
