Margaret Magrecki
90, Wausau, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home.
She was born December 24, 1917 in Mosinee, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Herman) Vesely. On October 21, 1942 she married Anthony "Tony" Magrecki at St. Paul Catholic Church, Mosinee. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1998.
Margaret was a firm believer in working for the church and was a very active member of the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus since 1945. As a member of St. Catherine Council she held many offices. She was also chairman of St. Regina's Circle for several years. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Rose, the Wausau Deanery and AARP and held many offices within these organizations. She organized and established Girl Scouts at Holy Name, serving for eight years as a leader.
Margaret volunteered at Marywood Convalescent Center and organized a group of ladies to make bandages for the missions and lap robes for the nursing homes. She enjoyed working with people and made many wonderful friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Larry) Fricke, Appleton; two grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Fricke and Lisa (James) Hoffman, three great grandchildren, Abby Fricke, Brenna Fricke and Ben Hoffman. Margaret enjoyed her family very much and loved them dearly, as well as relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Franklin, Edward and Walter and two sisters, Marion Goes and Holly Ann Vesely.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. James Schaefer will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. There will be a combined parish, St. Catherine Council, Catholic Women's, Catholic Daughters rosary at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the Sixth Street funeral home.
