Margaret Mae (Syring) Ledbetter

Margaret M. Ledbetter, 98, Rothschild passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at her daughter’s home while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born May 22, 1926, in Edgar, daughter of the late Richard and Bertha (Borchardt) Syring.  On June 29, 1945, she married Calvin Owen Ledbetter.  He preceded her in death December 31, 2012.

Margaret served as a secretary for the Naval Department in Washington D.C. where she met and married Calvin.  They moved to Edgar where she worked at the Bank of Edgar until retiring in 1986.  They became snowbirds and made life fun by living in Brooksville, MS and Three Lakes, WI.  She was an active member for over 50 years in the American Legion Auxiliary.  Margaret was very active in her church and community.  She loved reading, sewing, hand embroidery and playing games, which she usually won.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always felt it was a challenge to play scrabble or 5 crowns against her.

Survivors include her children, Lois Schwamman,  Calvin (Lori) Ledbetter and Wayne (Honey) Ledbetter, grandchildren, Kelly (Greg) Koehler, Corey (Alicia) Schwamman, Shawn Schwamman,  Amber Ledbetter,  Krista Ruehmer, Kyran Dave and Daniel Ledbetter,  great grandchildren, Shyane (Jacob)Koehler Lund, Kody Koehler, Ariel Koehler, Ava Schwamman, Eric Schwamman, Gibson Hunt and Owen Arthur Ruehmer, great-great grandson, Elijah Lund, sisters, Lucille (Eugene) Felzkowski, Ruth (Wilford) Hall, Nancy (Frank) Thompson, Mary (Allen) Orhmundt and brother, Leroy (Pat) Syring and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and her siblings, Richard (Jenny) Syring, Hazel (Roman) Wagner, Willis (Rose) Syring, Wilma (Robert) Hamann and Donald (Janet) Syring and her son-in-law, Jerry Schwamman.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue Funeral Home, Wausau.  The Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Circle of Joy food pantry, Edgar.
