Margaret L. Herzog, 85, Wausau died Friday, May 6, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Mountain Terrace, Wausau. She was born October 18, 1930 in Halder, daughter of the late Herbert and Rose (Ott) Connor. On December 28, 1967 she married Dennis Herzog in Minnesota. He survives. Margaret (Marge) and Dennis were the former owners of the DenMar Bar in Wausau for many years. She also worked at Marathon Electric and McDonalds. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading, doing crossword puzzles and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She was an avid baker, always having the best pies ready and waiting. Margaret was also a member of the G.D. Jones Mothers Club and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW post 388, Wausau, WI. She continually looked forward to working the VFW beer stand each summer at the Wisconsin Valley Fair. She worked many long hours behind the stand grilling hamburgers and serving beer. Marge enjoyed her time and visits with her family and grandchildren. Many memories and laughs when with the family, including time up at the cabin in Tomahawk, WI, time on the boat fishing, family reunions, and sporting events/games of grandchildren. When she was younger she enjoyed traveling and visiting much of the United States, including many Brewer games and trips to Las Vegas she coordinated for customers and friends of the DenMar Bar. Margaret and Dennis enjoyed many winters down in Arizona enjoying spring training for the Brewers and time with family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Herzog, Wausau, her children, Sandra (Gary) Utecht, Marathon, Randy (Joy) Happli, Wausau, Jean Weisenberger, Wausau, Robin (Kent) Downing, Maple Grove, Minnesota, one step daughter, Denise (Tim) Hardt, Laurens, Iowa, one step daughter-in-law, Jenice Herzog, Wausau, 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, one brother, Lawrence "Woody" (Bernice) Connor, Tomahawk, three sisters, Helen Spaeth, West Bend, Rosemary "Toots" (Raymond) Sawyer, Marshfield and Dorothy "Dottie" (Robert) Sawyer, West Bend and one sister-in-law, Ellen Connor, Rothschild as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe, Ray and Bill Connor, one grandson, Troy Herzog and a step son, Steve Herzog. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com
