While she was living there in the barracks on the base, she received word that her brother, Edward was to be sent overseas for tour of duty in Italy during World War II and she returned to Athens.
In June of 1945, she and her husband, Norman, of 45 years met at a dance at Trianon Ballroom. They were married on a beautiful sunny day on September 27, 1947 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1993.
Together Margaret and Norman shared their life on a dairy farm in the town of Halsey. Upon retirement, they enjoyed each other's company gardening, especially the many flowers that they tended, and trips to northern Wisconsin and Canada.
Margaret enjoyed preparing delicious food which was always the center of many memorable family gatherings. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and bird watching.
