Marcella L. Giguere

Marcella L. Giguere, 97, Wausau, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Our House Assisted Living, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born March 27, 1917 in Marshfield, daughter of the late John and Frances (Stanislawski) Schultz. On June 26, 1952, she married Donald Giguere in Marshfield. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1994. Marcella was a graduate of McKinley High School in Marshfield and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Education. She furthered her education, taking post graduate classes at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught High School Biology in both Winter, WI and Niagara, WI. For many years, Marcella worked as a Librarian at Niagara High School and also at the Niagara branch of the Marinette County Library. She was a member of the Marinette County Library Board, a member of the Christian Mothers' Guild at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed volunteer work and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Stores and Red Cross, where she also was a blood donor. Marcella was an active member of the Womens' Athletic Association at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she participated in basketball, tennis and field hockey. Survivors include, one daughter, Mary (Gary) Forseth, Wausau; one son, Jon (Cheryl) Giguere, DePere; five grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Forseth, Kathryn (Craig) Charlton, Lindsey Giguere, Justin Giguere and Matthew Giguere; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Adam Forseth; and other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Donald, she was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; and two nephews. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Noon Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Alan Burkhardt will preside. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. Inurnment will be in the Niagara Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
