Mae A. Thompson

Mae A. Thompson, 84, Wausau, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Sylvan Crossing, Wausau. She was born May 11, 1931 in Iron Mountain, Michigan, daughter of the late Anton and Frances (Kassin) Jermac. She married Earl Thompson in Milwaukee in July 1954. In 1949 Mae graduated from Iron Mountain High School. Mae started her 35 year nursing career at the former St. Mary's Hospital and retired from the Health Care Center. She enjoyed traveling with Earl and attended many trips with the Trekkers. Time spent up North and with her family was cherished and she also enjoyed watching her grandchildren's activities. Mae was also an avid sports enthusiast she especially enjoyed the Packers and Brewers. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Marikay) Thompson, Wausau, Mark (Julie) Thompson, Ringle, one daughter, Sharon (Kevin) McCormick, Laguna Beach, Calif., six grandchildren, Jill (Matthew) Palecek, Jeff "Buddy" (Gretchen) Thompson, Jonathon (Leslie) Thompson, Jordyn Thompson, Christopher and Michael Thompson, 10 great grandchildren, Mason, Addymae, Makray and Aubree Palecek, Owen, Beau and Rhett Thompson, Sam, Finn and Leo Thompson. Besides her parents and husband, Earl, she was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Tyborski. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
