Madeline J. Haemmerle

Madeline June Haemmerle, formerly of 1000 S. 22nd Avenue, Wausau, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2003 at Wausau Manor. Madeline was born in Chicago, Ill., oldest of three daughters to Ernst and Ernestine (Selinger) Albrecht. She graduated from Knickerbocher High School, Chicago, and worked in Chicago for Addressograph and the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Company. She married A.P. "Gus" Haemmerle on November 3, 1923. After moving to Wausau in 1942, she became a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active with the Welfare Workers for many years. She was partner and help-mate in her husband's business, Home Loan Co., of Wausau for 20 years. Active in Lions International with her husband, Past District Governor, she was the only female member of the Wausau Noon Lions Club. Survivors include one son, Roger (Joanne) Haemmerle, Appleton; one daughter, Diane (Wayne) Lemma, Wausau; five grandchildren, Lynnette Haemmerle Gardner, Wausau, Scott (Jacque) Haemmerle, Milan, Mich., Michael (Deb) Haemmerle, Omro, Kathleen Lemma Macomber and Jon B. Lemma both of Wausau; seven great grandchildren, Rene' (Trent) Gardner Rebeck, Sheree' Gardner, Amanda Gardner, David Macomber and Danielle Macomber, all of Wausau, Allen Haemmerle and Amanda Haemmerle, both of Omro; and one great great grandson Joshua Rebeck. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband A.P. "Gus" Haemmerle on September 25, 1978; one son, Warren Alan Haemmerle in 1936; and two sisters, Gladys Wallner of McHenry, Ill., and Florence Lessner of Clinton, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. The Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
