Madeline Buehler passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the age of 102. Born in 1922 in Denmark, Wisconsin, she lived a long and fulfilling life filled with love and joy. In 1945, she married Harold Buehler, and together they raised six children.
Her family grew to include 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished. Family was Madeline’s greatest joy. She loved every gathering, whether it was a holiday, birthday, summer cookout or one of the many “girls’ nights” she spent with her loved ones. Her kindness and warmth touched everyone she met, and she will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and as “GG” to her great-grandchildren.
As a devout Catholic, Madeline’s faith was at the heart of her life. She was deeply involved at St. Anne Parish, where she found purpose in community and service. She spent many hours working in the kitchen for the famous St Anne’s fish fry and making lunch for the school children. Through these hours and those spent on various church committees, Madeline’s dedication to the church was evident. Her unwavering faith and compassionate spirit inspired those around her.
Survivors include her sons, Drew (Carol), Kent (friend, Mary), Chuck (Jen), and Kurt; daughters, Marcia (Dave) and Michelle (Tom); grandchildren, Kate (Dave), Craig, Melissa, Allison (Eric), Kyle (Aimee), Amers (Brian), Ryan, Wendy (Henry), Sarah (Eugene), Lisa, Joe (Joan), Nick, Marie (Joe), and Brooke (Patrick); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Oliver, Bree, Andrew, Eli, Jordy, Ethan, Lydia, Ryan, Rhys, Harper, Grayson, Isaiah, Regina, Chloe, Aidan, Reed, Anna, Harper, Archie, Henry, George, Thea, Augie, and Archie; brothers, Delbert and Sheldon (Mary); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; infant daughter, Mary; sisters, Rita, Jackie, and Mary Ellen; and daughter-in-law, Ginny.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at St. Anne Parish, 700 West Bridge Street, Wausau, with Rev. Tom Lindner presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service all at the church. Private entombment will follow. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.
Madeline’s life was a testament to the power of family, faith, togetherness, and prayer. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rehoboth Home Care and Vitas Hospice Care in Florida, and Compassus Hospice Wausau. We also offer special thanks to the caregivers and support staff at Benedictine Living Community, whose unwavering care and compassion brought comfort, love, and peace of mind to Mom and our family. In lieu of flowers, please hug those you love.
Psalm 23:1-4
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
