Mabel M. Kurth

Mabel M. Kurth 84, formerly of 2512 N. 10th St., Wausau, passed away April 23, 2003 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. She was born May 31, 1918 in town of Stettin, daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Zahrt) Neumann. On June 12, 1937, she married Leslie A. Kurth in the town of Stettin. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1994. Mabel was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wausau. Mabel was a gentle and unassuming person. She made friends with all who knew her, especially in her tenure in the nursing home. Mabel loved gardening and doll collecting. She was proud of the dollhouse she so lovingly created making furniture and decorating each doll room in her special way. Most recently she started writing poems. Mabel was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and a favorite aunt. Survivors include one son-in-law, Allan (Mary) Oelke, Wausau; granddaughter, Tara (Bill) Meier, Eagle River; one grandson, Jeffrey Oelke, Eagle River; four great grandchildren; one brother, Elgardt Neumann, Wausau; three half brothers, William (Elvera) Neumann, Lester Neumann and Elroy Neumann all of Wausau; one sister-in-law, Marion Lodholz, Wausua; sister & brother-in-law, Dorothy (Harris) Thomas, Wausau. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Oelke; a granddaughter, Leslie Ann; two sisters, Agnes Kersemeier and Lorraine Nowaczyk; half sister, Julane Schuetter; two step brothers, Elgardt and Earl Radtke. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 28th, 2003 Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert M. Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau and again from 9:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. She will be deeply missed by her family but is now in God's loving hands. "Step softly for here lies a dream." We love you.
