Lynn A. Starkey Jr.

Lynn A. “Bud” Starkey Jr., 70, of Rothschild, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Wausau, Wisconsin.

He was born on September 26, 1955, in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of the late Lynn A. Starkey Sr. and Bettie (Johnson) Starkey.

In his younger years, Bud enjoyed working on cars, ice fishing, and riding snowmobiles; interests that suited his mechanical ability and his preference for staying busy. He worked as a mechanic at Gogebic Auto, Bessemer Auto, and Steiger’s Lumber Company in Bessemer, MI, and later as a heavy machine operator for Cloverland Motors in Ironwood, MI, and Superior Excavating in Hurley, WI.

Bud is survived by his son, Lynn A. Starkey III (Jennifer) of Lake Cormorant, Mississippi; his siblings, Deb (Gary) Kmiecik of Wausau and Randy Starkey of Rothschild; his grandchildren, Cody (Tiffani) Starkey and Alyssa (Brett) McCarley, both of Mississippi; and his great-grandson, Owen McCarley. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of two great-grandsons due in the spring of 2026. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kevin and Timothy, and his sister-in-law, Mary Starkey.
