Lyle R. Lueschow
87, 8407 Hwy. 107 North, Marathon, died Sunday July 21, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 4, 1915 in Edgar, son of the late Otto and Alma (Johnson) Lueschow. On August 4, 1936 he married Edna Czech of Athens. She preceded him in death March 3, 1982. He married Linda (Jirgl) Brickner on October 24, 1987. She survives.
Lyle graduated from Edgar High School and the Marathon County Normal. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and his Master of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He also did extensive work beyond his Master's Degree in the field of School Business Management. He had earned a Lifetime Teaching Certificate and was a Certified School Business Manager. He was also a Registered School Business Administrator.
In addition to the years he spent in education he was also an assistant manager for Sears, Roebuck & Co. at Marshfield as well as an assistant production manager for Roddis Plywood (Weyerhauser). He taught in Marathon County schools for eight years, the Emery Junior High School, Fort Atkinson for seven years and was business manager for the Fort Atkinson Public Schools for 14 years until the time of his retirement in 1977.
Lyle held memberships in the Association of School Business Officials (Both State and International), National Education Association, American Association of Retired Persons, Service Corps of Retired Executives, served as president of the Fort Atkinson Rotary Club and was a member of the Berlin-Hamburg Lions Club.
After his retirement, he moved to Eagle River and while there did tutoring at Pinewood Academy, a private school for dyslectics, until moving to Wausau. He spent winters in Tequesta, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Brickner, Marathon, a step-son, James (Maria) Brickner, Merrill, two step-daughters, Sherrie (Rick) Schumacher, Mosinee, Mindy (Brad) Slominski, Stratford, eight step-grandchildren and a brother, William Lueschow, Verona.
Besides his parents and first wife Edna, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert and brothers, Otto, Ray and Donald.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday July 25, 2002 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Rev. Douglas Helling will officiate. Committal services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Flowers in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Weds. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
