Lyle A. Buchberger

Lyle Anthony Buchberger, 48, Lakewood, CO, formerly of Marathon, WI, passed away on March 18, 2025.

He was born October 12, 1976, son of Claude and Margaret Buchberger. Lyle was a graduate of Marathon High School where he played baseball, basketball and was a member of the academic decathlon team.  Lyle was also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse.  On July 25, 2009, he married Jessica Lois at The Shores of Turtle Creek in Spring Grove, IL.  She survives.

He worked for the Wisconsin State Department of Health and Human Services, Northwestern University Student Health Insurance and Aardvark Travel Insurance.

He loved spending time with his family, especially hiking with them in the mountains. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lyle will always be remembered as a selfless person, a man who loved his family dearly and known for his infectious smile.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jessica Buchberger, Lakewood, CO, his precious daughter, Arabella Buchberger, Lakewood, CO, his parents, Claude and Margaret Buchberger, Marathon, WI and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Neil and Leon Buchberger.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Noon, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon, WI. The Rev. Msgr. Jospeh Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services, all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Lyle’s name. A portion of the memorial fund will go to help orphans in the Ternopil region of Ukraine. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, WI, is overseeing arrangements.
