Luke S. Stenzel, 70, R5618 County Rd. M, Athens, died Monday, April 22, 2002 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Luke was born October 11, 1931, in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late Lucas and Clara (Socha) Stenzel Sr. He married Priscilla Myszka on July 7, 1956 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poniatowski. She survives.
Luke was the owner of "Stenzel's Bar" in Athens. He was also a truck driver for many years for County Concrete, Marathon. Luke was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. NASCAR racing, football, traveling, going to casinos and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren were among his favorite things to do.
Besides his wife, Priscilla, survivors include; one daughter, Sandra ( Michael) Bergs, Edgar; one son, Randall (Jean) Stenzel, Athens; one grandson, Kevin Stenzel, one granddaughter, Traci (Kevin Schreiner) Stenzel; one brother, Edward (Sharon) Stencil, Athens.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by, two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Stenzel.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowki. The Rev. Charles Hiebl and Deacon LeRoy Knauf will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again from 9 a.m., Thursday, until the time of the service at the church.
There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Athens funeral home.
