Luella M. Straub
76, 903 Phlox Lane, Wausau passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 23, 1931 in Edgar, daughter of the late Anthony and Marcella (Hall) Thurs. On October 4, 1951 she married Gerald Straub at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. He survives.
Luella was a homemaker all her life. After marrying Gerald she raised six children and then returned to work in 1966. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, camping and traveling but most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. After her retirement she volunteered at the Aspirus Gift store.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Straub, Wausau her children, Susan Behling, Marshfield, Linda (Don) Patterson, Ringle, Diane (Bill) Petersen, Little Canada, MN, Sharon (Jerry) Hetzel, Neenah, Janice Straub, Wausau, David (Laura) Straub, Wausau, her grandchildren, Alissa and Trina Behling, Amanda, Matthew and Ashley Patterson, Jonathan (Andrea) Petersen and Jenny (Jeff) Dexheimer, Eric and Emily Hetzel and Michelle, Mitchell and Jordan Straub. Luella is further survived by her siblings, Alvina (Ray) Joswiak, Anthony (Janice) Thurs, Marian (Jim) Warosh and Walter (Judy) Thurs, all of Edgar and Jean (Roger) Rasmussen, Marathon.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
