Lucille A. Lang 88, Marathon, died Monday, May 9, 2011 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Wausau Manor. She was born October 11, 1922, in Poniatowski, daughter of the late Andrew and Victoria (Jakubowski) Waskowiak. On October 11, 1941, she married Gilbert Lang in Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2000. Lucille and her late husband, Gilbert were dairy farmers in the town of Cassel prior to their retirement. Among her favorite things to do were tending her flowers, enjoying the beauty of nature through birds and baking and cooking for her family. Through the years, Lucille maintained a strong sense of courage and tempered that with a good dose of humor in order to deal with the challenges that life brought to her. She was devoted to her husband throughout their lives together, but especially, during his 11 month battle with cancer that ended his life. With the support of family, relatives and friends, Lucille was able to live on her own for nine years following Gilbert's death. Survivors include her children, Leonard (Elaine) Lang, Mosinee, James (Linda) Lang, Wausau, Jeffrey (Jutta) Lang, Newport, VA., David (Mary) Lang, Nebraska, Michael (Jody) Lang, Marathon, Patrick Lang, Edgar, Carol (Glenn) Krall, Stratford, Susie (Dan) Gehrke, Dorchester, Kathy (Lino) Nadalin, Canada, Alice (Clayton) Gore, Athens, Donna (Patrick) Mueller, Mosinee, Jackie (Jim) Gawenda, Marathon, Mary (Jeff) Baxter, Spencer and Cindy (Mark) Wasmundt, Edgar, 33 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren 37great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shawn Lang, siblings, Stanley, Clarence, Thomas, Joe, George, Ralph and Ed Waskowiak, Mary Waskowiak and Regina Meyer. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7:45 p.m. Thursday evening at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Pallbearers for the service will be Lee and Dakota Lang, Sandy Denfeld, Lisa Spegal, Brad Mueller, Manuel Evans and Christopher Lang. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
