Lucian M. Fochs, age 92, Wausau, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Center, Wausau.
He was born September 3, 1920 in Montana, son of the late John and Margaret (Krings) Fochs. On June 5, 1943 he married Dorothy Wirsbinski at St. Paul Catholic Churc, Mosinee. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2009.
Lucian worked as a machinist at Marathon Electric for over 28 years. He moved to Wisconsin in 1923 and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing ball at the cottage with his children and grandchildren. After retirement he loved gardening, traveling and spent 27 years wintering in Florida with his wife. Lucian had a competetive spirit and enjoyed playing cards, even up until a few weeks ago.
Survivors include his three children, Diane Slominski, Boon, North Carolina, Marie (Carl) Radtke, Merrill, and Carl (Lynn) Fochs, Woodruff; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; brother, Francis "Bud" Fochs, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Aaron Slominski and three brothers, Fred, Roman and Hubert Fochs.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Friends may call Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
