Louis V. Witter
77, 6300 Birch Street, Wausau, died Friday August 12, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 1, 1927 in Marathon, son of the late Jerry and Amelia (Abraham) Witter. In 1952, he married Dolores Blarek at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. She survives.
Louis had been employed with the Milwaukee Road Railroad and the Soo Line Railroad, prior to his retirement. Among his favorite things to do were bowling, playing Bingo and taking the dogs for a walk. Louis always had a smile, a cheerful attitude and was willing to help anyone in need.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Burns Post No. 388, Wausau.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Witter, Schofield, a son, Greg Witter, Schofield, his siblings, Gert (Joe) Thanig, Milwaukee, Virginia (Harold) Dalske, Sacramento, Calvin (Marion) Witter, Milwaukee, Connie (Elmer) Dellenbach, Wausau, Imogene (Lenard) Habeck, Weston, Dawn (Joe) Kohn, Harry (Ethel) Witter, all of Wausau and Lee (Mary Ellen) Witter, Fla. Three sisters-in-law, Grace Witter, Schofield, Dorothy Witter, Milwaukee, Hildegarde Witter, Wausau. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 16, 2005 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Rev. Alan Slowiak will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Sixth Street funeral home.In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
