Louis W. Smith

Louis W. Smith 86, Wausau, died Thursday, January 1, 2004 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born May 12, 1917 in Spencer, son of the late Edward and Minnie (Kleinschmidt) Smith. On June 6, 1939, he married Adelia Schmitt. She preceded him in death on February 18, 1968. Then on March 6, 1971, he married Margaret Schrieber Marquardt at Wesley United Methodist Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2003. Louis worked for Heiser Ready Mix as a truck driver until retiring in 1978 and then was a crossing guard for the Wausau School District. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Wausau. Louis enjoyed playing dart ball, hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include two sons, Roger (Marilynn) Smith, Schofield and Ronald Smith, Mukwonago; one step son, David (Carol) Marquardt, Wausau; four grandchildren, Carla (Mark) Rhyner, Brenda (Eric) Anderson, Roxanne Smith and Heather Smith; two sisters, Lenore Smith and Marion Rozumalski both of California and one sister-in-law Loraine (Adolph) Groshek, Wausau. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
