Louis A. Abraham, 83, 3012 Seymour Lane, Wausau, died Monday, November 22, 2004 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, with his family at his side.
He was born August 22, 1921 in Wausau, son of the late William and Louise (Urban) Abraham.
On July 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Lois Jane Ulrich in Wausau. She survives.
After graduating from high school, Louis attended Normal School and taught elementary school in Boscobel for one year. In 1941, he joined the Naval Air Force as the first Wausau youth to be enrolled in the "Wisconsin Valley Thunderbirds", the Central Wisconsin naval air squadron that was sponsored by Junior Chamber of Commerce groups. Louis then served in the Navy as a pilot, navigator and flight instructor, flying both planes and helicopters. His service in the Navy included both World War II and the Korean War. He continued his love of flight after his naval service by flying his own private plane.
After the Navy, Louis worked for Marathon County Savings and Loan in Wausau for 25 years as an officer and member of the Board of Directors.
Among his many interests, he enjoyed playing cards, dartball, golf, softball, curling and camping. As a devoted father, he followed the activities of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Louis was a charter member of Grace United Church of Christ and served in many capacities at the church. For many years, he was a member of the Lions Club, with a special interest working for the Lions Eye Bank.
Survivors include, his wife, Lois Jane Abraham, Wausau; five children, Linda (Clarke) Schroeder, McFarland, Diane (Steve) Fletcher, Hudson, Audrey (John) Widstrand, Kohler, Daniel Abraham, Pembine and Polly (Clay) Weber, Wausau, nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Vera) Abraham, Wausau; one sister, Dorothy (Everett) Tessmer, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2004 at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. Rev. Jake Close will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.

Louis was a kind and gentle man and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
