Lorraine Schara

Lorraine Schara, 74, Merrill formerly of the town of Hamburg died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at Morning Star II Group Home, Merrill. Lorraine was born March 22, 1928 in the town of Rib Falls, daughter of the late Richard and Bertha (Punke) Sodke. She married Aloysius Schara at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau on October 12, 1954. He preceded her in death December 22, 1997. Lorraine worked as a nurse's aid at the TB Center in Mount View Sanatorium until 1955. Along with her husband, she farmed in the town of Hamburg until the time of her retirement. She enjoyed going to the Elder Share Program in Merrill and her grandchildren's activities. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Bessette, Wausau, Paulene (James) Sala, town of Berlin; one son, James (Karen) Schara, town of Hamburg; Ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lawrence Sodke, Rhinelander, Clarence Sodke, Freemont, Clifford Sodke, Town of Hamburg, Reinhardt (Sandra) Sodke, Wausau; one sister, Doris Erdman, Schofield. Besides her husband, Aloysius, and parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Richard, Bertram, Reuben, Gordon, Delmar and Ralph Sodke. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Donald Berg will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau and again from 10:30 a.m. Monday until the time services at the church.
