Lorraine A. Murkowski

Lorraine A. Murkowski 93, Wausau, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston. She was born October 1, 1915 in the town of Wuertzburg, daughter of the late George and Amalie (Halm) Rosner. On February 3, 1942, she married Roman C. Murkowski at St. John Catholic Church, Wuertzburg. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2006. Lorraine worked at Wausau Hospital in housekeeping, the nursery and central supply for more than 20 years. Among her many interests, she enjoyed traveling throughout the country with her husband, Roman, playing cards, reading and playing the organ. Lorraine especially enjoyed Christmas and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her seven children, Judith (Thomas) Kerkman, Salem, Wisc., Mary (Warren) Docherty, Plymouth, Minn., Gerard (Bonnie) Murkowski, Chanhassen, Minn., Francis Murkowski, Saline, Mich., Roman G. (Barbe) Murkowski, Rib Mountain, Wisc., Gary (Colleen) Murkowski, New Berlin, Wisc. and Allen (Lisa) Murkowski, Weston, Wisc.; one son-in-law, Paul Podruch, Verona, Wisc.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Roman, she was preceded in death by five children; Jerome, George, Geralyn and Joseph Murkowski and Teresa Podruch; one daughter-in-law, Diana Murkowski; and eight siblings. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
