Lorraine Henke

Lorraine Henke 93, formerly of 1503 Seventh Street, Wausau, entered into her heavenly home Wednesday May 22, 2002 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. On July 5, 1908, Lorraine was born in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Anton and Emma (Machel) Kluetz. She was baptized on August 23, 1908, confirmed on March 14, 1922 and married August 1, 1930 to Alfred R. Henke, all at St. John Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. He preceded her in death February 19, 1982. An accomplished seamstress, Lorraine had been employed with Constance Harger Interior Decorators for many years and various other decorators. She was a 70 year member of the First English Lutheran Church and was a 30 year member of the choir and Grace Circle. Being an excellent quilter, she was also a member of the Pine Tree Quilters Club. Among her greatest joys were her family and sitting at her sewing machine creating wonderful projects. In her earlier years she was active in the Franklin School Stunt Night and PTA. Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Gary) Zumann, Wausau, four granddaughters, Sara (Shawn) Beliunas and Marla Zumann, all of Wausau; Tammi Henke (David White), Sun Prairie; Jamie Henke(Timothy Paustian), Middleton; great-grandchildren, Emily Beliunas, Wausau; Jamisen Jean Paustian & Jadrien Timothy Paustian, Middleton; one sister, Eleanor Gensmann, Rhinelander; a sister-in-law, Ruth Kluetz, Wausau; a special cousin, Erna Fry and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Dawn (Zillman) Henke in 1998, a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Earl Treu, a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Dorothy Kluetz, a brother, Clarence Kluetz and her brother-in-law, Henry Gensmann. Two infant daughters died at birth. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 25, 2002 at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Burkhart and Rev. Fred Damgaard will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to all the people who touched Lorraine's life, especially, Meals on Wheels volunteers; her shepherd from church, Joyce Pempek; Helen Graveen, Pastor Fred Damgaard for all of his visits, Dr. David Aughenbaugh and to all of the wonderful, kind & compassionate caregivers at Colonial Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels Program, c/o Marathon County Aging and Resource Center, 1000 Lakeview Drive, Wausau, First English Lutheran Church Emergency Aid Fund or the Charity of your choice.
