Lorna I. Utecht

Lorna I. Utecht, 89, Wausau died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Benedictine Living Community of Wausau, the former Marywood Convalescent Center. She was born May 5, 1923 in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Ernst and Elsa (Voelz) Jahns. On June 14, 1941 she married Clarence Utecht at Zion Lutheran Church, town of Maine. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1994. Lorna and her husband farmed in the town of Maine for many years. After moving to Wausau, Lorna was a hairdresser for a period of time. Some of her hobbies included singing, crocheting and baking. Survivors include her children, Janice (Leonard) Holz and Connie (John) Loos, both of Wausau, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 2 step great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Gerolynn Taylor and Sheryl Wiesman and her siblings, Walter Jahns Sr., Edna Oldenburg, Gertrude Letto and Esther Holmquist. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Bruce Lamont will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Ev. Cemetery, town of Berlin. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
