Lorna Helen (Hass) Sellin

Lorna H. Sellin, 91, Wausau, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Applegate Terrace in Wausau, under the care of Interim Hospice.

She was born July 12, 1933 in Gleason, WI, daughter of the late Arnold and Ella (Burmeister) Hass.  On July 27, 1957, she married Elroy Sellin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill.  He preceded her in death on December 7, 2001.

In her younger years, Lorna worked as a secretary and in her later years, worked for the Commission on Aging in Wausau.  Lorna was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered at the school library.  For the past 20 years, Lorna was an active member of Highland Community Church in Wausau.

She was a member of the Homemaker’s Club, Christian Women’s Club, hosted countless Bible studies and parties at her home and loved to celebrate family and friends’ birthdays.

Survivors include, three children, Sharla (John) Fritz, Aurora, IL, Steven (Theresa) Sellin, Cornelius, NC and Shelly (David Damewood) Sellin, Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Anna (Nathan) Rugg, Nathaniel (Mary) Fritz and Seth (Hannah) Littlejohn; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, Alexander, Abigail, Attalia and Ariel Rugg; one sister, Avila (Gerald) Zabawa; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Elroy, she was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Wilharms.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Highland Community Church, Wausau.  Rev. Dave Mahler will officiate.  Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
