Loretta Homerding

Loretta Homerding, 77, Wausau, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. She was born November 23, 1931 in Auburndale, daughter of the late Hollis and Mary (Munniek) Babcock. Following her graduation from Wausau High School, Loretta married Russell Homerding, whom she later divorced. She became a mother and homemaker and over the years had several jobs outside the home. Loretta had a strong sense of justice and always championed the underdog. Throughout most of her life, she was a "caregiver", and cared for her own children and would also babysit for some well loved children in her home. Loretta cared for her mother-in-law during her last months. Among her many interests, she enjoyed many activities with her family including, traveling, theatre, eating out, picnicking, playing games and just visiting. Survivors include, four children, Linda (Ted) Moskonas, Wisconsin Rapids, Pam (Steve) Hildebrandt, New Jersey, Randy Homerding, Wausau and Gordon (Maria) Homerding, Washington; seven grandchildren, Micah, Sarah, Jennifer, Brian, Jessica, Conniemarie and Christopher; and one sister, Delores Berdan, Auburndale. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Russell; seven brothers and one sister. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
