Loretta Bonkoski, 84, Rothschild, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau.
Loretta was born August 6, 1918, in the town of Mosinee, daughter of the late Anton and Frances (Jansen) Heil. She married John Henry Bonkoski on January 25, 1941 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death March 27, 1997.
Loretta was a homemaker who enjoyed working in her flower gardens.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth (Diane) Bonkoski, Neenah, Gerald (Cathy) Bonkoski, Loyal, John (Judy) Bonkoski, Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five brothers, Clifford (Loretta) Heil, Edgar, Norman Heil, Port Edwards, LeRoy (Agnes) Heil, Marathon, Marvin (Helen) Heil, Hales Corners, Earl (Ellouise) Heil, Mosinee; two sisters, Grace (Leo) Szemborski, Milwaukee, Verna Ruplinger, Marathon; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Heil, Washington, Helen (Bill) Wirsbinski, Rocky Mount, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Jim (Irene) Bonkoski, Marathon; nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her husband, John and her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by three infant daughters; three sisters, Frances Bonkoski, Hattie Kordus, infant Doris Heil and one brother, Donald Heil.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2003, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild, The Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Marathon. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Monday from 10:30 until the time of services at the church.
There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sixth Street Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild.
