We lost a remarkable woman on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 when Loraine Groshek, 96, of Wausau passed away. Loraine was born in Wausau, on March 8, 1924 to Ernest and Susie Schmitt. She married Adolph Groshek on March 27, 1941 in Waucon, Iowa.
While her husband Adolph proudly served his country from 1943 until 1946, during World War II, Loraine helped hold down the home front. She contributed to the war effort by making rain gear for the soldiers at the rubber plant and making motors at Marathon Electric.
Loraine worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Pediatrics and later at both St. Mary's and the Aspirus Hospital as a surgical technician.
There was nowhere Loraine would rather be than with her family enjoying the cottage she built with her husband. She enjoyed fishing with Adolph and her Dad, boating, snowmobiling and relaxing with friends and family in what is considered “God's Country". She also enjoyed many winter vacations with her husband in Florida.
Loraine’s greatest love was that for her family. She was a hardworking, good, strong, loving, giving and caring woman.
Loraine is survived by her daughter Judy, grandsons Todd, Christopher and Ben, granddaughter Dawn, and great-grandchildren Ryan, Jeff, Dane and Alyssa.
A memorial Mass and private interment will be held at a later date.
We love you and will deeply miss you. Rest in Peace until we meet again.
