Lloyd G. Schmitz

Lloyd G. Schmitz 75, 1408 Quaw Street, Wausau, died Saturday February 14, 2004 at his home, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born August 19, 1928 in Wausau, son of the late Gerhard and Anna (Kraimer) Schmitz. On October 14, 1950 he married Virginia Schneck in Wausau. She survives. Lloyd worked with his father building homes, then had been employed as warehouse foreman for the Edward Hines Lumber Company. Most recently he drove City Bus for WATS until the time of his retirement in 1993. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Among his favorite pasttimes was model railroading, spending time at the lake and helping his children with their remodeling projects. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Schmitz, Wausau, his children, Gary (Penny) Schmitz, Dennis (Mary) Schmitz, Janice Schmitz, Karen Schmitz, Robert (Janet) Schmitz, all of Wausau; grandchildren, Joshua Schmitz, Stacey Schmitz, Rebekah (Andy) Chartier, Jacob Schmitz, Michael Schmitz, Kyle Schmitz, Adam Schmitz; step-great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Andrew Chartier. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Schmitz. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday February 18, 2004 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call on Weds. from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for St. Matthew Catholic Church.
