Linda L. Carl
After living a beautiful life, Linda Lenore Grasmick Carl was peacefully reunited with her heavenly family on Saturday June 7, 2003. Born on April 15, 1926 in Riverdale, Ill., Linda was the daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Boese) Grasmick. She graduated from Wausau Senior High in 1943.
While in high school, Linda met Edward Carl, with whom she immediately knew she would spend the rest of her life. At the age of 17, Linda left her family and friends to be with Ed, who was a World War II Army Corporal. In a simple service, Eddie and Linda were married in Tonopah, Nev.;eleven months later, their first son, Jim, was born.
Upon returning to Wausau, Linda worked as a secretary at the Irv Hall Garage and she spent the next several years raising her son Jim, and her twin sons, Daniel and David. When Ed began his own home building business, Linda quit her job and became the business manager for their company, Quality Construction.
In her late forties, Linda was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but with the help and strength of her loving husband, Linda was able to live an active lifestyle for the next 30 years, fishing, camping and spending winters in Florida. Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed being with friends, playing cards, singing songs of happiness and attending St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Linda also took pride in being a mother, teacher and mentor to her three sons and four grandchildren.
Linda will be missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Helen Carl, Wausau; her son Dan Carl, Jump River; four grandchildren, Tiffany (Lucas) Francois, Black Earth; Justine (David) Hildebrandt, Eau Claire; Mindy (Jon) Buchberger, Marathon and Tanner Carl-Berger, Medford. Linda is also survived by her sister, Esther (Ray) Strehlow, Wausau; two brothers, Reinhold (Norma) Grasmick, Wausau and Herb Grasmick, Tomahawk and her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Carl-Francois. Other survivors include numerous special cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, David.
Linda's family extends their gratitude to Dr. Schaller and all the Marywood Nursing Home staff, especially Roxanne, Jean, and Sharon. Linda was a role model and believer in all that was good in life. She brought sunshine into our days and greatly inspired those around her. Her strength, tenacity and will to conquer seemingly insurrmountable goals teach us to appreciate every day. Farewell, our beautiful angel.
