Lillian Ann Poeske, beloved wife of Rudy Poeske, Marathon, died Friday, December 8th, 2006 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 93 years of age. Lillian was born June 26, 1913 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Dalsky) Goldbach. On September 24, 1935 she married Rudolph Poeske at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past September. He survives. After the death of her parents, mother Anna in 1938 and father Joseph in 1940, Lillian assumed the role of mother to her seven brothers and sisters, Elsie, Ray, Dolores, Marie, Virginia, Lucille and Robert. Along with her husband they owned and operated a restaurant, Rudy's Lunch in Marathon in the late 1940's. They also owned and operated the Marathon, Edgar and Mosinee Movie Theaters for over 25 years. She was also a member of the St. Mary PCCW. In their retirement, they enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling, visiting 38 states of the United States. Lillian's strong faith and devotion to her family guided her throughout her life. Survivors include her husband, Rudolph "Rudy" Poeske, Marathon, three children, Beverly (Marvin) Blume, Marathon, Pat (Carl) Remus, Stratford, Jo Poeske-Prozinski (Jim), Wausau, eight grandchildren, Michael (Linda) Blume, Marathon, Laurie (Scott) Ivey, Mosinee, Andrew (Stacy) Remus, Arpin, Brian (Heidi) Remus, Stratford, Jennifer Remus, Madison, Sarah (Brad) Motl, Madison, Laura (Mike) Riebe, Woodbury, Minn., Jennifer (Scott) Cornelius, Mosinee, 11 great grandchildren, three sisters, Adeline (Clarence) Rochow, Rib Mountain, Elsie Martino, Wausau, Dolores Gassner, Wausau, one brother, Robert (Iris) Goldbach, Marathon, one sister-in-law, Marie Goldbach, Marathon, one brother-in-law, Jacob Hornung, Edgar and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Blume, sisters Marie Lins, Virginia Hornung, Lucille Goldbach, brothers Hubert Goldbach, Raymond Goldbach and twins Clarence and Felix Goldbach and baby Agnes Goldbach. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials in Lillian's name may be directed to St. Mary's School, Marathon.
