Lillian Kortbein

Lillian Kortbein, 91, Wausau, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Weston. She was born June 26, 1921 in Wausau, daughter of the late Anton Sr. and Clara (Kowalefski) Nowitzke. On November 13, 1943 she married William Kortbein at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2000. Lillian enjoyed reading, embroidering and sewing. She also enjoyed word search puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Alice Andreas, and Christine Cherek, both of Wausau; grandchildren, Laurie (Ken Knudsen) Andreas, Merrill, William (Jamie) Andreas, Wausau, Marjorie Andreas, Paula Cherek, both of Weston, and Frank Cherek, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Mickayla Andreas, Shane, Brandi and Shawn Andreas, and Kassia Andreas; honorary great-grandchildren, Jason and Tyler Knudsen and Carter and Sierra Madson; sister, Marlene Nowitzke, Wausau; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Kortbein, Dorothy Nowitzke and Annie Nowitzke. Besides her parents and husband, William, she was preceded in death by three children, John, Vera and Cecilia, two brothers, Tony and Ambrose Nowitzke and three sisters, Delores Rybarczk, Gladys Nowitzke and Virginia Schubring. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Timothy Welles will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau, and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
