Leora E. Schoenherr

Leora E. Schoenherr 77, 122 N. 152nd Ave., Marathon, died on Monday, June 10, 2002 at home under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services after a short and courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 14, 1924 in the town of Stettin, daughter of the late Herman and Esther (Buttke) Hilmershausen Sr. On May 23, 1947, she was united in marriage with Fred Schoenherr at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Stettin. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1982. Leora and her husband farmed in the town of Hamburg. After his death, Leora was employed at Fromm Brothers for some time. She then was in partnership with her family in the Three L.A.'s in the ginseng gardens for many years. Leora was a devout member of St. John Lutheran Church in the town of Hamburg and their ladies aid. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, genealogy and working in her flower gardens. Leora felt very blessed by her many friendships and also her recent ones as a result of her illness. She was the loving mom of LeeAnn (Rick) Arneson, Hamburg and Lanette (Randy) Arneson, Marathon; dear grandma of Michelle, Melanie, David, Nick, Luke and Marcus; one brother, Herman (Joyce) Hilmershausen, Marathon; special friend, Niki Wilichowski. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Church, town of Hamburg. Rev. John Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again from 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church until the time of services. There will be a 7:00 p.m. scripture service Wednesday evening at the Marathon funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Hamburg or Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
