Leonard Urmanski

Leonard Urmanski, 89, formerly of Wausau, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Wisconsin Rapids. He was born September 1, 1914 in Wausau, son of Peter and Catherine (Jakubowski) Urmanski. On February 17, 1973 he married Arlene Malak. She preceded him in death November 15, 2003. Leonard was employed at Curtis Manufacturing Company, Wausau until it closed and then was employed with Weyerhaeuser Corporation until his retirement in 1979. He attended Wausau area schools and was a life long member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau and was active in their entry for Wausau Stunt Night programs. An active member of the Wausau Elks Lodge No. 248, Wausau, Leonard also had a passion for gardening, fishing, boating and travel. He was an avid golfer in the retirees league at the Wausau American Legion Golf Course. Being a young man during the Great Depression, he was adept at a broad array of light contracting. Survivors include his children, Gerald Urmanski, Tucker, Georgia, Janice (Jim) Straub, Wausau; two grandchildren, stepchildren, Janet (Yulan) Jensen, Nekoosa, Barbara (Eugene) Jensen, Nekoosa, Kathleen "Kay" (Gary) Swartz, Appleton and William (Marsha) Malak, Springfield, Oregon; 11 step grandchildren; 19 step great grandchildren; one step great great grandson; a brother, Raymond (Millie) Urmanski, Wausau, a sister, Deloris (Harold) Dahlke, Wausau. Memorial services for Leonard and Arlene Urmanski will be Noon Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the church.
