Leona M. Streveler, 81, 400 River Drive, Wausau, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at her home.
Leona was born March 26, 1921 in Mosinee the daughter of the late Isadore and Clara (Raleigh) Spatz. She married Alois Streveler September 23, 1940 in Mosinee. He preceded her in death August 5, 1968.
As a homemaker Leona was proud to have opened her home to foster children. After her husband Alois past away, Leona worked for nearly 20 years in the SPD Department at Wausau Hospital, retiring at the age of 70. She enjoyed quilting and her flower garden.
She is survived by two sons; Russell (Natalie) Streveler, Wausau, William (Patricia) Streveler, Schofield; six grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Streveler, Mindy (Jay) Nelson, Megan Streveler, Gregory (Tammy) Streveler, Michelle (Dave) Dewald, Lori Streveler; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Eunice Schmidt, CO., Eileen Osswald, Wausau, Rosemary Gribus, IL.; two brothers, Neil (Katie) Spatz, Westfield, Dale (Delores) Spatz, Mosinee; one sister-in-law, Delores Spatz, Mosinee.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one brother Cecil Spatz.
The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2002 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
There will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m., Thursday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Church of St. Anne, Wausau.
