Leona A. (Wadinski) Ritger
78, 1215 LeMessurier St., Wausau, died February 12, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born October 21, 1928 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Leo and Clara (Pospyhalla) Wadinski. On September 3, 1951 she married Philip Ritger at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. He survives.
Working for twenty-three years as a school term secretary for the Wausau School District she retired in 1994. After retirement she enjoyed baking, golfing, card club, spending time at the cottage in Tomahawk and just being with family, grandchildren and friends.
She was an active member of the former St. Mary Congregation which presently is the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. As a member of St. Mary she was active in the PTA, Girl Scout Troop, Cub Scout Troop and served a longtime in preparing couples for marriage (FOCUS). At Resurrection she was a member of the PCCW, volunteered at the Lenten Soup Kitchen and did volunteer work in the parish offices.
Survivors include her husband, Philip, her children, Lynn (Peter) Heinz, Mosinee, Philip (Christine) Ritger, Genoa, Nevada and Renee (Dr. David) Kim, Green Bay; seven grandchildren: Bethany, Colin and Bennett Heinz, Clara and Amelia Ritger, Davis and Trevor Kim; one great grandson, Shiloh Ryan; four sisters, Alvina Szymanski, Marathon, Lucille Royston, Mazomanie, Virginia Paszek, West Allis and Angie Kryshak, Tomahawk and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emily Murkowski and Dolores Marzynski.
The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A special thanks to Dr. Rezazadeh, the nurses and staff at the Aspirus Oncology Unit and the UW Cancer Center for all their care, love and support. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in the name of Leona has been established at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 621 Second Street, Wausau, WI 54403.
