Leona S. Hoffmann
85, Wausau, died Friday, September 28, 2007 at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born February 19, 1922 in Edgar, daughter of the late Reinhard and Clara (Laumer) Draeger. On June 11, 1941 she married Melvin Hoffmann at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Edgar. He preceded her in death April 21, 1984.
Leona was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening and for many years sewing her own clothes.
Survivors include two children, Dianne (John) Obermeyer, Marathon and Larry (Jewell) Hoffmann, Palmer, Alaska; four grandchildren, Corene (Chris) Roman, Merrill, Melissa (John) San-Roman, Palmer, Alaska, Bryan (Marilyn) Hoffmann, Peters Creek, Alaska and Elizabeth (Hardy) Hamilton, Alaska; eight great grandchildren, Chelsea, Courtney, Cristen and Caitlin San-Roman, Tristan and Bridget Hoffmann, Daryn and Olivia Hamilton; brothers, Reinhard (Marion) Draeger, Marathon and George (Dolores) Draeger, Marshfield; sister, Ella Kufahl, Wausau, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Melvin, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Obermeyer and a great granddaughter, Emma Hamilton.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rib Falls. Rev. Terry Reich will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Rib Falls. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
