Leon A. Boehm

Leon A. Boehm died September 13, 2010 at his home. He was 92 years old. Leon was born on February 28, 1918 in Halder, son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Bauer) Boehm. On September 4, 1939 he married Mary Lang in Marathon; she survives. Leon worked as a Patrolman for Marathon County and later at Popes. After World War II, he and his wife operated a Grade A Dairy Farm in Cassel for 40 years. He also worked part-time at Menzner Lumber Company for 24 years as a Setter and later Head Sawyer. Leon was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed watching and playing baseball. He managed and played on the Halder team in the Marathon County league. He enjoyed bowling, cards, and also watching his grand-children and great-grandchildren play sports. Leon also was a great fisherman. He is survived by 5 children, Sister Diane Boehm, Eau Claire, Mary Ellen Schreiber (Alvin Funk), La Crescent, MN, Lee (Alice) Boehm, Marathon, Lynn Wiesman, Green Bay and Connie (John) Bresson, Plano, TX; 13 Grandchildren: Fred (Karen) Schreiber, Halder, Kathy(Mark) Lewitzke, Wausau, Ann Mueller, Marathon, Brian (Lisa) Boehm, Marathon, Chris (Larry) Heise, Edgar, Neil (Amy) Boehm, Allegan, MI, Dan (Holly) Wiesman, Casco, Ted (Julie) Wiesman, Green Bay, Dave(Brooke) Wiesman, Green Bay, Dawn (Paul) Soletski, Green Bay, Jessica (Steve Craig) Bresson, Boston MA, Kevin Bresson, Plano TX and Renee Bresson, Plano TX. Leon also has 24 Great-Grandchildren. Also, surviving are 2 brothers, Loy Boehm, Stratford and Armin (Lorraine) Boehm, Halder and 3 sisters Betty Drake, Mosinee, Dorothy Clark, Stevens Point, and Loretta (John) Kaiser, Marshfield. Besides his parents, three of Leon's brothers are deceased: Roger, Hubert and Thomas. Leon was a carefree, loving person. He was well liked and could relate to just about anybody. He was family oriented and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all. The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
