Leon J. Babl
93, Schofield, died Friday, November 15, 2002 at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau.
Leon was born October 27, 1909 in Kelly, son of the late Joseph and Mathilda (Zinser) Babl. On June 6, 1934 He married Leona A. Hein in Wausau. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2001.
Leon along with his wife Leona was owner/operator of the Babl's Bar and the Pine Motel, Wausau. He was a past Grand Knight and a 48-year member of the Knight of Columbus Sacred Heart Council # 4628 Schofield and also a member of the South Area Business Association. Leon enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, all types of sports, playing cards, gardening, hunting, fishing and horse back riding.
Survivors include one daughter Elaine (William) Duginske, Weston; two sons Stuart (Lorelei) Babl, Weston, Clark (Janice) Babl, Necedah; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; one brother Lawrence (Regina) Babl, Schofield.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son John Babl; three brothers Joseph, George and Arnold Babl, one sister, Jennie Wendt-Baltz.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again from 10:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
There will be a rosary at 6:45 p.m. conducted by the Knight of Columbus Sacred Heart Council # 4628, Schofield followed by a prayer service Monday evening at the 6th St. funeral home.
