Leo A. Wallner

Leo A. Wallner 93, Edgar, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at North Central Health Care, Wausau. He was born May 25, 1915 in the town of Wien, son of the late John and Katherine (Strasser) Wallner. On September 4, 1937, he married Elizabeth Jagodzinski in Poniatowski. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2007. Leo farmed in the Edgar area and also worked for the former Edgar Packing Company for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time in his machine shed fixing and building many different things and in his younger years, enjoyed fishing. Survivors include, his daughter, Geraldine (Al) Sonnentag, Rib Mountain; two grandchildren, Sandi (Kevin) Schmitz, Green Bay and Richard (Marie) Sonnentag, Hawthorn Wood, Ill.; and six great grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Shaelyn, Austin, Aaron and Alexis. Besides his parents and wife, Elizabeth, he was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2008 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Norman Boneck will preside. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Edgar. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of North Central Health Care for all the care and support given to Leo and his family.
