Leo J. Pestka
78, Wausau, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.
He was born December 4, 1929 in Hatley, son of the late Joseph and Martha (Bewoski) Pestka. On May 25, 1957 he married Cecelia Matsche in Birnamwood. She survives.
Leo served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau. He worked as a lineman for Wisconsin Public Service and built many homes as a young man. Some of his hobbies included polka dancing and playing cards. He enjoyed spending time outdoors especially fishing and above all he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia, Wausau; four daughters, Cindy (Dan) Lex, Birnamwood, Cathy (Randy) Lex, Weston, Donna (Brian) Sabatke, Wausau and Paula (Jay) Jeske, Appleton; one son, Charles (Tammy) Pestka, Birnamwood; twelve grandchildren, Brian (Reyna), Greg (Leah), Kevin (Jolene), Chris, Jenny (Chad), Sarah (Forrest), Nicholas, Shawn, Megan, Amy (fiancAC. Jon), Brett and Adam; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Lucas and Bryce; two sisters, Lilian Hintz, Milwaukee and Esther Pozorski, Wausau and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
