Leo Magrecke

Leo Magrecke 91, 910 Dahlia St., Wausau died Thursday, October 10, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born June 14, 1911 in Wausau, son of the late Casper and Mary (Kowalski) Magrecki. On February 11, 1945, married Leona Landowski. She preceded him death on September 13, 1997. Prior to his retirement, Leo was employed in maintenance at the former St. Mary Hospital, Wausau, for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially, hunting, fishing and occaisional trips to the casino. Survivors include one son, Neil (Pat) Magrecke, Rothschild; one daughter, Barb Gernetzky, Schofield; one step-daughter, Marie Breitenstein, Mosinee; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one step grandchild; two sisters, Marge Pratt and Clara Kryshak both of Wausau. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Stanley and Tony and a sister, Verna Haufschildt. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2002 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau and again from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of services at the church. There will be parish vigil service Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the 6th St. funeral home.
