Leo A. Kordus

Leo A. Kordus 85, Wausau, died Thursday Nov. 24, 2005 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 13, 1920 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Leo and Mary (Pospychalla) Kordus. On September 15, 1945, he married Bernice Borski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives. Leo was a graduate of Wausau Senior High School and was a lifelong member of St. Michael Parish serving as an usher there for many years. He was a second generation painting contractor and his sons, Gary and Robert, continue in the business. Leo was an avid golfer and won numerous City, American Legion, Channel 7 Invitational, Wausau Country Club and Northeastern Wisconsin Golf Association titles. For many years, he played baseball for Schofield in the Kelly Hardball League. Leo also coached basketball at St. Michael School and golf at Newman High School. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; sons, Gary (Lynn) and Robert (Beverly), all of Wausau, grandchildren, Jenna (Michael) Hall, Eden Prairie, Minn., Randy and Angie (fiance', Michael Blaubach), Wausau; sisters, Mary Ann Rozmiarek, Green Bay, Alice Sattler, Rothschild and Phyllis Spaude, Tomahawk. Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by brothers, Emmerich, Ervin, Mark and John "Raymond" and sisters, Vitalia Manecke and Dorothy Derby and beloved pets, Ginger, Muffin, Midnight and Bud. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday November 28, 2005 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. Rev. William Grevatch will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
